Man has been profoundly dependent on technology and electronics in the recent past. Every invention has benefited people, but has brought with it new problems. The by-pass products and the retro are saved for later, bin preferred for the latter.

It is high time to blend in the by-products in favour of our earth. Among the first to initiate and inspire is the celebrated Mercedes-Benz.

Taking forth the convention of building extraordinary cars, Benz has taken it up a notch launching a revolutionary idea for BIOME, a completely organic car. Scientists have long been searching techniques to make cars run on water, releasing hydrogen as a by-product. BIOME will contribute by reducing greenhouse gases but also enhance oxygen.

To be grown using a material lighter than metal, and stronger than steel, called BioFibre, it will use solar energy and release oxygen as a by-product. Seeds are Benz’s signature; the interiors will be grown from a seed positioned in front of car and exterior spawned from the rear. Each wheel will be grown out of four seeds.

Disclosed in an LA auto show in 2010, BIOME is hitherto a concept car, a vision that exists virtually. Quoting Hubert Lee, head of Mercedes-Benz advanced design studios “In complete symbiosis with nature, this car is a natural technology hybrid which grows and thrives like the leaves on a tree.” Being able to design a basic concept of a BIOME is half the battle won and one of the first tiny steps towards a cleaner and greener earth, wouldn’t you say?
