A young Indian squad looked ready to take the helm after the retirements of some of Indian crickets more experienced stalwarts. Their first challenge was a trip to the Caribbean to play against West Indies and Sri Lanka in a tri nation cup. India defeated Sri Lanka in the finals to win the cup. Next, it was India’s turn to host a series, against Australia in a five match series. It was a clash between the top two sides of one day cricket. The whole series was a high scoring one, with bowlers of both the teams being smashed over the boundaries for fours and sixes. Both the teams were neck and neck heading into the fifth and final ODI. India clinched the ODI and the series.

India’s and the world’s greatest batsman, Sachin Tendulkar was retiring, with the West Indian visit to India in a two match series scheduled to be his final appearance. BCCI planned a great send off for THE MASTER BLASTER. The first test was played at the Eden gardens, Kolkata. It was Rohith Sharma who rose to the occasion and scored a century in his debut test match and won the match for India. The second test match of the series and 200th test match for Sachin Tendulkar was played at his home town in Mumbai. India wrapped up the match in three days and that was the end of Sachin Tendulkar’s glittering career. India’s greatest player was given the best farewell ever. Every fan had just one thing to say “Thank you Sachin. Thank you for everything”.
