“I love pizza, meaning: Even when I’m in the middle of eating pizza, I wish I were eating pizza.”
― Jandy Nelson, I’ll Give You the Sun

A lazy Saturday afternoon and a craving for good pizza led us to this Italian Restaurant. With a quirky name like “Flying Spaghetti Monster”, a reference to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But I certainly was not disappointed.

With sturdy wooden tables and a huge and beautifully rustic chandelier, the minimalist design of Flying Spaghetti Monster gives off a classic Italian feel.

Their menu is as hilarious as it is tempting. Do read the whole menu if you can. Another cool thing about their menu is that the prices mentioned are inclusive of all taxes and they don’t charge any hidden fees, a model I wish more restaurants would consider adopting.

For drinks, we ordered “Eye of the tiger” which is a virgin mojito but with a twist. Instead of the standard lime, we have OJ with a nice kick of cinnamon. This was a definite hit and the cinnamon left a pleasant warmth. A definite recommend.

Pizza: The course I was here for! We decided to go for the “Mediterranean” which is a pizza with artichoke, garlic, black olives, oregano, Napoli sauce and (*cue angelic music*) Mozzarella! This was such a delight to eat. I could taste how fresh the cheese was, something my friends mentioned as well. The base was a bit thin and the sauce was flavorful.

Dessert: Panna cotta with mango compote! As you can see, my friends couldn’t wait for me to take a picture. The best part was that the panna cotta jiggled! It was creamy and smooth and the mango added freshness and sweetness.

The service is very prompt and efficient. I would love to try some pasta next time as I’ve heard good things. Don’t be put off by their off-beat name and the next time you can’t decide where to go, try this place. It might surprise you.
